Masks and other impediments are trying to give you an excuse to slow down or even to “GIVE UP” your sales effort this summer. After all, how do you give a face to face presentation six feet apart? Or, “ it’s the summer and this season is always dead, no walk-ins, no referrals, etc.”
If you give in to this unusual predicament, like a lot of our competing companies and salesmen, you will end up waiting and hoping for a government “check in the mail” from the next stimulus bill congress creates. You know how you can count on the government. Like the old farmer said, “ Mess (or Sh – -) in one hand and wait for the government in the other hand and see which one gets filled first.””
We all need words of encouragement to motivate us to do the unusual, go that extra mile, talk to that next person, work that extra hour or even that extra day. My words to you are “DON’T GIVE UP” Words of encouragement “Don’t Give Up” packaged differently means “Keep going,” “Don’t stop,”Hang on,” “Hold fast,” “Stand firm”
“DON’T GIVE UP” these three words offer more than comfort—They offer courage. This message or a variation of it is what most people need to hear. When we are right on the edge of quitting, when we are beaten down, when we feel utterly overwhelmed comfort may sustain you but courage is often what we need to move forward. Sometimes people need to hear the words “don’t give up” to comfort them, we use these words to encourage them to action.
Think of those marines who fought up Mount Surabachi, who were utterly exhausted fighting uphill with the enemy shooting at them. These marines didn’t quit until they conquered the hill and raised the American Flag. “Don’t give up” these words meant to them, “go forward with every breath you have and win the mountain or lay dead on this hill trying.” The National Cemetery in Arlington, VA across the river from the capital has a well known statue that memorialized their effort of “Don’t Give Up”
As sales people, we don’t have to run up any mountains or swim across any rivers or destroy any enemy but what we do have to do is use this terrible summer of 2020 to locate those people who need our excellent health insurance, life insurance and all other excellent programs to save them from the financial disaster happening now or any disaster that might follow this summer. Our enemy is our willingness to let the excuses we can make up to stop us from earning the commissions that are out there waiting for us to reach out and take for our families. DON’T GIVE UP
