On November 1, 2023, Steve Ramsey presented Bruce Henry with the Patriotic Employer Award from the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Alongside the presentation of this award was (RET) CPL Frank Henry, a Korean War Veteran.
How this came about – Steve Ramsey – SSG
While transitioning from an active soldier role to a training position in the Army, I ran a machine gun range for young soldiers and cadets. As I was sitting around listening to them, I noticed how they were all complaining about their jobs and how unappreciated their employers were. When I heard this, I thought how lucky I am to have a boss who has gone out of his way for me as a senior enlisted non-commissioned officer in the US Army.
That being said, I wanted to show Bruce how much it means to me and any other veterans. After researching, I found out I could nominate him for an award through the Department of Defense, and the US Army recognized him as an outstanding employer. I filled out the necessary paperwork, put my reasonings for my recommendation, and we were a success.
